Mold inspection and testing in Knoxville
InDepth Mold Consultants inspects homes and buildings in Knoxville and East Tennessee for mold, and for the moisture problem behind it. We test when a sample answers a specific question, then explain the results alongside what we found in the building.
Based in Knoxville, TN. Serving East Tennessee and the southeastern United States.
What we cover
What a mold inspection from InDepth covers
A sample tells you what was in the air or on a surface at one moment. It doesn't tell you why mold is growing or whether it will come back. Our inspections start with the building:
- Accessible areas where mold or water damage is suspected, inside and out
- Water-damage history, past repairs and the concerns that prompted the call
- Moisture readings and patterns that point to a source: plumbing, roof and wall leaks, crawlspace and basement conditions, HVAC condensation or air leakage
- Thermal imaging where it helps trace moisture behind finishes
- Sampling, only when it helps answer a defined question
Testing
When mold testing makes sense, and when it doesn't
Testing is useful when it answers something specific: whether a hidden area is affected, whether conditions differ from outdoors, or whether a cleaned area meets the verification criteria. When visible growth and a moisture source are already clear, a sample often adds cost without changing the next step. We say so before collecting one.
Laboratory results are read with the site observations, not as a stand-alone verdict.
Independent
We don't do remediation
InDepth provides assessment and consulting only. We don't sell or perform mold removal, so our findings and recommendations aren't tied to a remediation job. If remediation is needed, we can write a project-specific protocol and later verify the completed work through post-remediation verification.
The report
What you receive
A written report with observations, photographs, laboratory results when samples are collected, and practical next steps, along with the limits of what was inspected.

What InDepth doesn't do
We evaluate environmental conditions. We don't diagnose medical conditions or determine whether a building caused an illness, and an inspection is not a guarantee of a mold-free building.
